Analysis of Touch The Sky

Touch the Sky
By Chris Commodore ©2007

reaching to touch the sky,
    you think the sky is right there;
but when you get right there,
   the sky is out much farther.
way out there,
   another heaven, more sky
with blue and white clouds.
   this new sky now,
the sky of those you
   tried to touch when you
were down there – a second sky.
   and if you reach the second sky,
there’s nothing there;
   except perhaps,
just a third sky,
   exactly like sky two,
and sky one.
   yet once in the sky,
you look below
   and see another sky.
now up is sky,
   and down is sky,
and I’m just in the middle.

About this poem

The puzzle of the end of the sky ... Does the sky we see end somewhere; I often wonder what lies beyond the.
