Analysis of Littered Streets

Gary King 1983 (Glasgow)

I am walking in the rain
Hand in hand with an old flame
Whispered words from no name
They circle within my brain

My destination is unclear
I walk blind hoping it gets near
My companion is relentless this year
The whispered words in my ear

I am not the first to walk this path
Many others have tread here past
This lonely street gets littered fast
The whispered words are all I catch

I will not stop or fall or slow
This weather will not be my foe
The whispered words inside my brain
My self-inflicted fear and pain

I will not silence you today
Your words matter, have your say
On this journey together, we stay
Neither of us has the final say
