Analysis of Patiently Waiting for Silence

Sierra Futch 2004 (Pennsylvania)

Patiently waiting for silence

I patiently wait for silence
For bodies to stop moving
For air to enclose within itself
I wait until it's over
I get up and wash off the noise because its too loud on my body
I scrub each moan and lie off of my skin
And they go down the drain with the rest of the noise.
I patiently wait for silence after “Are you sure”
I’m not but I can’t beckon the words
I can’t reject because I know how it feels
So I lie back and welcome the noise
And continue to wait for silence
