Analysis of I Did Not!

I should have sought adult advice
So many years ago
When shyness made me pay the price
That lonely people know.
But I did not!

I could have talked to teachers who
Showed some concern for me
And asked them just what I should do
For courage socially.
But I did not!

I would have done those things back then
If I had known how long
I'd have to go without a friend
And not just play along.
But I did not!!!
