Analysis of People's United Power

Tammie Swinehart 1974 (Mooresville, IN)

In the realm of hearts united, we stand tall,
A tapestry woven, a chorus in thrall,
A symphony of voices, a mighty choir,
The power of people, an eternal fire.

Through trials and storms, we find our might,
Bound by a vision, a shared insight,
In every soul, a spark of grace,
Together we conquer, we embrace.

With hands entwined, we forge a path,
Overcoming darkness, dispelling wrath,
In unity, we break the chains,
And every heart, hope sustains.

The power of people, a force untamed,
In solidarity, dreams are named,
Like mountains rising, we ascend,
Through valleys low, our love we send.

In unity, we mend what's torn,
From dusk to dawn, a new day's born,
Each voice a ripple in the stream,
Creating waves, a radiant beam.

When challenges arise, we don't recoil,
But kindle strength and inner toil,
In numbers, we find solace deep,
As one, our promises we keep.

Across the lands, we bridge divides,
With empathy as our guide,
With kindness, compassion, we extend,
The power of people, a love to mend.

Let not the world forget this might,
Together, we ignite the light,
Boundless potential, souls untamed,
In unity, the world is reclaimed.

About this poem

This poem was inspired by 9/11. I was working this day. I worked as a front desk receptionist in a medical office. I had no access to TV or radio, and I knew was that as patients came in, they all were saying to me "did you see?", "did you hear?". And I didn't do either. I was just getting bits and pieces of the story. I knew plans flew into the Twin Towers, and there was a large loss of life with more to come. Then patients came in and said the towers collapsed. In between all of this, patients were coming in and saying things like, a van with a bomb was spotted at the Sears Towers, this was found here, that was found there. This all ended up being false, but I was scared, and I just wanted to go home. When I finally was able to leave, I walked out to my car and looked up that sky and saw nothing. I live and work close to the Indianapolis airport, so I was used to always seeing Southwest planes flying back and forth above me. It took me 30 minutes to get home,

Tammie Swinehart

Not much to say. I live in a small town in Indianapolis and work full-time as a manager for an insurance company. I have written poems going back to grade school. They were all horrible, but fun and passed the time. I have journals of poems that go back 40 years. So now that I have more free time, I dig them out, clean them up while preserving the original thought and meaning behind them. more…
