Analysis of To my doctor

Laura Marie Emms 1992 (Cheltenham)

Hi, Hello, it’s me!
I’m screaming!
Yes I’m here again but now I’m PLEADING!
Don’t turn me away with that diagnosis’ANXIETY’!
‘Take another pill it will help you blend in with society’
But I’m telling YOU!
This pain in my chest,
The numbness in my lips,
My body feeling like it’s ready for death!
That’s not enough for you is it?
No matter how much I plead?
Do I have to do something stupid for you to see me?
‘IF’ I do go that far,
And I decide not to stay,
Remember I was just a lost girl asking to be saved….

About this poem

A poem I wrote as if I let my mental health take over. How I felt as if I was a number on there daily chores! How my medication just carried on being heightened. I am a mother and I deserved better! I am one of the lucky ones to have fought through it and not let it kill me!
