Analysis of Solitude

Paul mcbride 1972 (Glasgow)

We have left the solitude of the forest,
And met at the edge of the meadow,
Silently I take your hand and look into your eyes,
I kiss you with a smile.

Bare footed i lead you across the soft cool grass,
Where the wildest flowers fill the air with loves true scent,
And the larks sing your name.

Our laughter and love mingles with the music of the meadow,
All that lives pauses till their hearts are filled by our joy.

I lay you down in the tall grasses,
Where the flowers bend their faces to behold our love,

In my arms you lay,
Until the jealous stars crept out to acknowledge our purest love,
Blinking tears of joy knowing their children have found the love they bore us,
Bathed in star love we feel complete and time is an impostor,

Awaken my love i say to you with gentle kisses,
We have a little further to go,
The dawn has arrived and bathed us in joy and hope for we are alive,

We now walk in the uncertain shadow of the mountain,
There is a path which is beset on all side by beauty and colour,
But the path is Stoney and unsteady but I have your hand,
Strong and steady is my hold,
The climb is bold and steep but it leads upwards.......................to the warmth of the sun.
