Analysis of It's not about you

I'm slowly dying, the constant battles
It's enough to make anyone's head rattle,
Everyone expects so much from me,
I don't know how to make them see,
The spiral I'm drifting down,
My head is beginning to pound.
This story is too much
I couldn't even make it up
The cycle of abuse continues,
And no one is looking to choose
The ones who should matter the most
Are the ones paying the unbearable cost.
You're so concerned with yourself
You don't see them needing help,
You are so wrapped up in pride,
You don't hear them cry,
I want to love them I want to help
But every time it's like getting hit with the belt,
Your quick to assume
Never listening to the truth
You choose to ignore and move along
Never admitting you may be wrong.

About this poem

After dealing with drama in my family regarding divorce and custody I wrote this to share that it's not about anyone else just the kids.
