Analysis of I MATTER!

I look down
Towards the ground
Not making eye contact
To scared to look up
At the elders
Who guide me
Towards a better future.

A future of their choice,
A future they deem perfect,
A future not of my choice.
I too think the path by elders
Is filled with glory
But, it lacks,
Something, it lacks
And that's MY HAPPINESS.

A small wish
To choose my own path
Each step at a time
Towards the future
Choosen Not by some elder
But by me, myself
So, I look up
Straight to their eye
And say "I MATTER!"
to the overbearing elder
Who look at me with awe
Questioning themselves
And me as well.

As to who the child before them is
The same child who never
Met their eyes
Never looked eye to eye
The same child who did
What she was told to do
Never raising a single mark
Had said" I MATTER!"
which rang in their ears
Like a symphony .
