Analysis of The Dome
It's shaped like a dome
And when the setting sun hits it
It looks like a mothership of sorts.
On a clear day
I can see it from my flat.
OK, I can't.
Don't be so pedantic,
It's poetry.
Anyway,
This strange structure
Used to host concerts.
"I wonder who is coming next"
And "I would give my left nut
To see so-and-so"
Like anyone would want
Your left nut.
During the pandemic
It was closed down
And sold to the highest bidder.
A hospital would have been nice,
Or a book store.
Imagine thousand of books
Prancing about in circles
Trying to catch your eye.
But it is now the largest
Used car showroom
In Africa.
I get sad every time
I drive past in a taxi
And I swear I can hear
The music.

About this poem
This is a true story from Johannesburg, South Africa. Our concert venue is now a mega used car showroom. This makes me incredibly sad.
