Analysis of The African Child

I look over to where the horizon lies,
Just beneath the glistening skies,
There, the beauty of a young soul captures my eyes,
It's the beauty of the African Child.

Her eyes are bright and innocent,
Her smiles never seem to grow faint, of
Proud is what she is of her melanin,
Effortlessly showing the power that lies therein.

This African Child is bold,
Unique, pure and full of hope,
Growing to appreciate her culture and heritage,
She will bequeath to her children when they come of age.

Feet buried in the sand, she stands,4
Secretly admiring the sunset above her arms,
"My Africa, my pride,"
Are what I say when I realise I am indeed that African child.
