Analysis of ROSES OF WAR

ROSES OF WAR

How can such horror from afar
Usher heartbreak to my door
For, I only know of where they are
Never seeing their faces before

Delicate roses lying amidst the rocks
Once bright and innocent souls
Children and their building blocks
Leave hearts with endless holes

The world is forced to sit and witness
Another repeat of old empires
With actions of such luridness
Again, misusing all their powers

A silence heard around the world
Resonates louder than the bombs
Empathetic arms extend unfurled
Along, with chanting prayers and psalms

Oh hopeless ones do not stay shaken
For the light of day has come
The scattered roses will not be taken
Their seeds are planted, love has won

The actions of those who defy love
Will not leave us forlorn
For the glorious rose always blooms above
The stem, despite the sharpest thorns

About this poem

I wrote this poem after watching the news about the war in Ukraine. It was my way of processing and coping with the highly disturbing footage coming from the Ukraine.
