Life Lessons
(Written by: Derrick Taylor)

Life will teach you that not everyone will be for you, life will teach you that some people will hate you for no reason or for reasons of jealousy and envy while others may adore you.

Life will teach you that not everyone is your friend but you will find out who's for you in the end.

Life will teach you that in order to reach a level of successfulness you will get knocked down repeatedly, you will sometimes be ridiculed , you will get 100's no's before you get a yes, you will fail and become frustrated multiple times , go through unforseen trials and tribulations and cross some serious hurdles and make tired some sacrifices just to reach the top.

However in all of these things what will make you a success is the fact of you finding a way to get back up and try again, refusing to give up on chasing your dreams and later wondering what could or should've been!

Life will teach you that hardships builds character, heartbreaks , builds experience and knowing when to let go of something or someone regardless of the pain for your peace and your sanity builds wisdom!

Life will have you go through certain cycles time after time and time again until you learn that there's a lesson to be taught in every situation and every temptation and every circumstance.

Life will teach you that you have choices and you are in charge of you and your emotions, you are the one who can control the narrative and write or rewrite the chapters of your life and that whatever doesn't break you will make you stronger.

You may call this a storm, some may call this words of advice inside of a blessing, I call this life lessons!

I been wondering poems since I was about 13 years old . My older brothers were more so into rap and for a brief period, I was as well since they were doing it. I always like listening to the radio and my favorite songs were Boyz II Men, Babyface, az yet, anyway it was doing this period that I discovered that I had a nice voice so I got in groups who had mutual interest and we washed around our complex singing the R&b songs we heard on the radio all while I took my poetry skills and starting writing songs because early in life I felt that poetry was a good form of expression, rap, and the songs that we hear were poetry first before it was later converted into lyrics. more…
