Analysis of Goodnight, my Moon
Goodnight, my Moon.
You have set long ago, and soon will rise,
But now, it is my turn to close my eyes
So far away,
we will see each other one day
When I, the sun, turn to a smaller star
And make that journey so very far
Across a bridge of void, formless and unknown
But for now
Let my light shine upon you
Reflecting off of your pale, smooth skin
And shine onto the people who look at you
For they look at you with such awe, such love
My Good, sweet Moon.
I will be there soon
To wish you goodnight myself
For no one loves you more than I
My dear, sweet elf.
I will unravel your countless machinations,
Wondrous and infinite, your mind is a miracle.
In my life, I will form countless constellations,
Depicting you in your grandeur, bright and fantastical.
Your wealth in heart and knowledge:
People will see these and they will set their plans upon them.
They will align themselves with your stars
They will understand the Moon that I see
A beautiful one, so fair and wise
So old in heart and mysterious in eyes
Dream of your sun
When the day has begun
And it is your turn to rest yourself once more.
Goodnight, my Moon.
