Analysis of Cats 'n Birds
Somehow all cats I’ve lived with
developed a special bonding with birds.
Like my first, a female, she watched
over the ouzels foraging in my garden
chasing off other cats so they could find
worms for their female or their young.
But my current cat, he’s really extreme
in his friendship with a magpie family.
He has helped the parent birds to feed
several nests by begging for extra meals.
Each time I give him, he eats only half
then waits for or even calls his friends.
After his breakfast, lunch or dinner
he lays waiting on the roof of the shed
and then capoeira training starts.
The parent birds tell their young
to try and peck the tail of my cat
who really seems to enjoy the fun.
Because of the contact this cat has
with these magpies for many years
I guess now he’s part of the family
Sort of a godfather or sugar uncle.
I even suspect him to talk their talk
for he has much regard in the bevy.
