Dreams are answers to questions
That no-one even dares ask
Questions best left unanswered
Of terrors that lurk in the dark.

Dreaming we discover the truth
Of foulness best left concealed,
To horrors abounding in darkness
That awakened are best not revealed.

In dreams, dark secrets come forward
After hiding from the daylight,
Secrets that only bring madness
Unless they're kept hidden in night.

Horrid things lurk out of sight
To reveal themselves only in dreams,
Using an unwanted candour
That nothing is quite as it seems.

Gross visions torment our nights
Revealing great insights in sleep,
Insights abhorrent to sanity
Disgusting things which slowly creep.

Shadowy creatures are lurking
In the darkness when we're awake,
Hidden from the day in our dreams
Morning tells us they're fake.

Horrors lurk beyond vision
Revealed only to us when asleep,
Atrocities mostly unsighted
As out of the darkness they peep.
