Analysis of Patience Heals All Wounds
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Apologies heard to give,
And mentioned to hear them.
Have yet to speed the time it takes,
To heal and mend...
What had been intended to break.
Tantrums to throw them and display,
Have a way to stay remembered.
And those who do this to believe,
These acts of childishness...
Should, as they age, stay tolerated.
The time does not await,
For minds like these to grow.
Not old.
But...Up!
People often apologize,
Not for the act they do consciously.
But for being caught to then refuse,
To acknowledge...
Misdeeds to do them meant.
To then accuse their childhood,
Parents, siblings and unnamed friends.
For not giving them attention to get.
When they needed someone to come,
To protect and defend them.
But no one came to do that done.
'Sorry to hear that.
It will be okay.
We as adults still make our mistakes.
Stop crying.
Everything will work out fine.
Time, patience and understanding,
Eventually heals all wounds.'
'That's what my babysitter said too.
When she used to walk me,
To nursery school everyday.
And the kids would take all the crayons.
Leaving me unable,
To color in the pictures.
After I connected the dots.'
'I...see.
And just how long ago was this?'
'I was not yet 5 years old.'
'And...
You are....how old now?'
'I will soon be 65.
But people think I am much younger.'
'Hold on.
I'll be right back.'
'Where are you going?
Don't listen to the court appointed,
Psychologist or my hired psychiatrist.
Or my babysitter.
Wherever, God knows, she could be.
Probably still trying to make me happy.
By finding similar coloring books.
I don't want them.
I want the ones I had!
And that's my final statement!
So there.
I wanna go home!'
'How long has he been babbling like that?'
'I had no idea,
His mind was twisted like that.
I don't know what to say or do.'
'Hmmm...
Try this.
I have an idea.
Go back in there.
And tell him he won!'
'Won?
Won... what?'
'Anything.
Just tell him that!
