Analysis of Heart-Shaped Flowers

St. Joan burns with a passion
She's can't wait for the dance
Of the patron saint of epilepsy
The saint of headless romance
She carries on the tradition
Of the Valentine's Day feast
A skull with a crown of flowers
Head cheese for her enemies

Teach the kids to cut hearts out
Raise a glass to St. Valentine
At Basilica Santa Maria
Martyrs blood sparkles like wine
Valentino stares from the laurels
Adorning his blank silly grin
The Valentine's Day Massacre
Is upon us all once again

Scissors and construction paper
Every year at this time
Heart-shaped chocolates and flowers
Will you be my Valentine?

Send out the invitations
To the Valentine's Day Dance
Line us up against the wall
Cut us to pieces, call it romance
Nurse, get your scissors ready
We need to take some blood
It's a Valentine's Day Massacre
How did we come to call this love?

Dinner and a box of chocolates
And diamonds are forever
Cut out my heart and make it yours
We'll always be together
Mail out cards like blood oaths
A promise of eternal good
Atonement in the blood of martyrs
Of unplanned parenthood

Scissors and construction paper
Every year at this time
Heart-shaped chocolates and flowers
Will you be my Valentine?
