O' Has the Day Now Come

O' has the day now come;
the time to grow to be a part.
But I strive to be my own, unlike some;
to expand & grow; to be a work of art.

O' but the challenge I now face!
There are rocks & hard soil;
The other ones, already tall, taking my space,
O' how it causes me to boil.

O', at last I have completed this step!
I can now wait for a break.
Once I had gotten enough pep,
I was able to rise among the others like cake.

O', but now I was stuck!
It is now scorching, & I am left to suffer.
For now with the dream I could only chuck,
As all the rest of me is just tighter & rougher.

O', but now there is something new forming!
Something that is killing all of my comrades.
It is now approaching me, it is swarming;
O', how the remains of the others has left me sad.

O', but now is this my time to rise?
I am all alone, with no purpose;
May I overcome the season I despise?
There may be a now a purpose!

O', but as I thought I would get my chance,
I was taken from my home & cut into pieces.
I was now just a small piece, not able to take a stance;
I accept that I must now live in pain that only increases.

O' here I am, slowly being torched,
Succumbing to the same fate as those before.
But as my captors fight for me, I think while scorched:
Has this been my purpose I have long searched for?
