I'm Almost Free

I'm most free from the things that hurt me... I price myself and find that I am unworthy.. alone from birth because my father was not there, and even now in the dark my sorrow is all that I share. No one cares, I cry as tears fall freely from my eyes, my heart beats slow because it also yearns for my demise. I'm almost free, at least as far as my weary eyes can see, they're dark, cloudy, and full of unbelief. Who is there to trust? I give love but do not receive it, I give reverence, but no one reverences me. I'm almost free from lust, pride, and envy, jealous-hearted cold souls flee, they never loved me. All my life I've suffered without a cause, taking each breath, gasping through the fog, but I still stand tall, above all, through all. To be all that I can be, so maybe just maybe I'm almost free.
