"What great fun!! Thank you!! *I have noticed a lot of comments about rhyme in Haiku. I have studied both traditional and the commonly accepted 5/7/5 counts we use on this site. Haiku forms are actually derived from a lengthy formal poetry style called Hoku used long ago, when one student broke with tradition to form his own style using only the top descriptive line of the poem. Though most were originally discriptive about nature, we currently include other subject matter, feelings, insights, and impressions as well. Though clever it is NOT essential to rhyme!! So loosen up and have fun!! Happy Haiku to you all! Thanks again!! "

"It was a very pleasant surprise to receive the email with the news that I was the winner of the Haiku Contest for 5/8/2008. A Missionary's life is full of reasons for deep gratitude. I have nothing, but the providence of God and the great goodness and generosity of so many people all over the world inspire me and motivate me to do my Missionary Work and to write the appropriate three lines for the Haiku Contest from day to day. I am deeply grateful to each and everyone of you and I assure you of my remembrance and prayers always. Thank you very much indeed."

"Many Thanks!! Daily Haiku is a terrific chance to view the everyday and common place through discriptively artistic eyes! I love reading the endless variety of emotional thoughts, dramatic effect, and reflection expressed from all over the world. It really demonstrates how very much alike we all are. I do wish that there were some merit for choosing the winners, not just time markers..Like best of top 20 times perhaps???? (It would feel more of a victory.) Never the less, I thank you, I do enjoy the mouse pads! By the way, I also enter and enjoy reading all of the PIM entries as well...The Prince Of Pun C.T. totally cracks me up!! "

"Greetings! Thank you Poetry.com for the opportunity to enter the Haiku daliy. I never expected to win three times in such a short period of time. I enjoy and look forward daily to do my Haiku. Beside reading the Bible and visit my own char room "Jesus_Wept4You" at talkcity, I make sure that I do my Haiku daily. I find it to be a challenge to get a Haiku thought so fast after a first glance at the picture provided. My friend Tanja Cilia who lives in Malta G.C. joked about having enough place mats at the dinner table. Tanja Cilja is a good poet and I met her through the Haiku contests on poetry.com. I look forward to receive my next place mat. God bless. "

"My thanks and appreciation to Poetry .com for providing the Haiku Contest, and choosing my verse. I especially enjoy writing to the nature photo's as it reminds me, how inspirational art and the view through a window can be. Having experienced many life challenges . . . It is with compassion, with my sincere intention, to spark, inspire, enlighten, comfort, guide and encourage with my words. It is with great care and careful thought that I click the submit button upon compose, then wonder about the wonder of who might read or where it goes forth. Best wishes to all the faithful writers. Keeping close in thought. . .In writing and In life, the power of words. Thankyou, Karen"
